Kidney International Reports Celebrates Five Years of Presenting Outstanding Research in Nephrology

The Kidney International Reports’ (KIR) Jai Radhakrishnan, editor-in-chief, Sumit Mohan, deputy editor, and Radha McLean, executive editor, highlight the journal’s significant role in disseminating valuable research in nephrology, having published over 1,000 articles since its launch in 2016.

The article, 5 Years (And Counting) of Expanding Access to Kidney Disease Research, marking the fifth anniversary of the journal, presents its strengths and continuing growth, notably its successful open-access policy and the receipt of a first impact factor, 3.374, issued in 2020.

KIR expanded its editorial team in 2021 in line with a marked increase in submissions. In addition, “Regional Reports” have been added to the journal’s repertoire, and “Research Letter” publications extended to include condensed format studies.

Unsurprisingly, KIR has published dozens of research articles, clinical trials, systematic reviews, and commentaries on the epidemiology and treatment of COVID patients with AKI and ESRD.

KIR continues to analyze changing readership patterns and innovate solutions to accommodate their needs, particularly within the social media landscape. It is dedicated to continuing to pioneer to provide the highest standards of research in kidney conditions and care.
