ISN-ISPD Webinar: Urgent-Start Peritoneal Dialysis
Between 30 and 80% of patients start dialysis as an emergency, most often with a temporary haemodialysis catheter. This results in excess cost and morbidity along with the inability of patients to access the dialysis modality of their choice. Urgent-start peritoneal dialysis has been shown to be safe and effective. This webinar will assess the evidence in favour of this approach, access options and treatment prescriptions.
Learning Objectives:
- Options for urgent-start dialysis
- Peritoneal access for urgent-start patients
- Prescribing dialysis in urgent-start patients
