The ISN Community Film Event is a unique initiative to raise awareness and improve understanding of the reality of living with kidney disease. This year\u2019s edition has become the biggest ISN Community Film Event ever, with 34 remarkable films submitted, from all regions of the world, proving, once again, the importance of this forum to share experiences and personal stories with a global audience.<\/p>\n

The ISN congratulates all the filmmakers for their high-quality submissions and thanks them for sharing their stories. The Film Event jury had a tough task selecting the finalists for this year\u2019s event, we hope you will enjoy their selection!<\/p>\n

After an attempted transplant that is rejected,\u202fFabrice\u202frealizes the facts: he is hyperimmunized and will have to face dialysis for the rest of his life.Fabrice\u202fwill begin to build a new life as a patient and long nocturnal dialysis will play a big role in improving his quality of life. That\u2019s why, being less tired and more physically fit, he will decide to take up exceptional sports challenges for a dialysis patient, including the 112 km Bourbon trail in La Reunion.Wishing to highlight his career and the benefits of long nocturnal dialysis, this is how the documentary film \u00abThe Mountain in the Blood\u00bb was born.<\/p>\n

Good morning\u202f This film was made exclusively for this Congress. at this month (January 2021) Our purpose was to show that even in our reality (Brasil diversities) we can give a message of hope. As it is known, our country is very huge. Every part of it from south to North we have different health conditions, poor water treatment, lack of medication, low income, lack of jobs, problems in education. There is no equality. The best incomes are located in south and south east. Inside Brasil we have 2 or 3 countries, that is, it depends on your eyes focus. This haemodialysis unit is located in south Brasil, Porto Alegre, inside a hospital\u202f (Hospital Ernesto Dornelles). We are very worried about patient safety, knowledge and humanity.The city population is more than 1.5 m people. The film consists of a patient experience in renal care treatment: from the beginning to dialysis and transplantation, He shows his fears, eager, family hopes, his struggle for being brave for his kids, his necessities to bring this for the other patients too.\u202f A multidisciplinary team has an important hole in all of it\u202f as in giving him information and power to ask about his doubts. So, we can see with this example that even in a small unit with a team worried about bringing love, confidence and thinking as a patient, the relief and hope are the ingredients of a better outcome. As he says “you don’T need to be a Brucelly to struggle for life”.<\/p>\n
