Call for expressions of interest/nominations for
ISN-ACT Committee, Deputy Chair
The ISN welcomes expressions of interest/nominations for the position of Deputy Chair of the ISN (Advancing Clinical Trials) ISN-ACT Committee. The term of the appointed Deputy Chair will start at the World Congress of Nephrology 2024 (WCN’24), and end at the WCN’26. It is expected that the Deputy Chair will then succeed the Chair following completion of the Chair’s term at WCN’26.
About the ISN-ACT Committee
The aim of the ISN-ACT Committee of the ISN-ACT initiative is to guide facilitation in increase of international high-quality clinical trials in nephrology, informing the optimal prevention and treatment of kidney disease and its complications for the benefit of patients. The ISN-ACT Committee does that through various activities and initiatives.
The ISN–ACT Committee aims to:
- Objective 1: Bring together people involved in clinical trials and related studies in nephrology
- Objective 2: Provide a forum for the discussion of key scientific, operational and analytical issues facing clinical trial researchers in kidney diseases
- Objective 3: Grow the capacity of the global nephrology community to conduct high quality clinical trials and studies by connecting researchers with different levels of experience, and through specific training and educational initiatives within the ISN framework
- Objective 4: Develop ISN led and/or supported activities which help to improve and standardize high-quality trial conduct in nephrology
- Objective 5: Promote and support the development and execution of clinical trials in a highly ethical framework
- Objective 6: Increase the participation of ISN Regional Boards to consolidate local knowledge
- Objective 7: Oversee the deliverables of ISN-ACT
The ISN-ACT Committee works to protect the rights of clinical trial participants, both investigators and patients, particularly in developing countries.
The Role
The role of the Deputy Chair will be to support the chair to implement the ISN strategic framework as defined by ISN Governance, and together with the assigned ISN Headquarters staff, advise and support decision making processes to select the most appropriate projects and candidates among applications received. A committee with balanced and diverse representation will support the Chair and Deputy Chair.
This is a volunteer leadership position for a period of approximately 2 years, commencing at WCN 2024. The Deputy Chair is expected to take the role of Chair after approximately 2 years (commencing at WCN 2026). The position attracts no remuneration.
Selection Criteria
- Strong leadership skills, convincing experience and demonstrated interest in clinical trials, with at least 2 years’ experience on the ISN-ACT Committee
- ISN member in good standing
- Email accessible and able to regularly connect to conference calls
