Call for expressions of interest/nominations for
ISN iNET-CKD Committee, Members

The ISN welcomes expressions of interest/nominations for the position of members of the ISN iNET-CKD (International Network of Chronic Kidney Disease Cohort Studies) Committee. The positions will start at the World Congress of Nephrology 2024 (WCN’24).

About the ISN iNET-CKD Committee

The purpose of the iNET-CKD is to enhance understanding of CKD progression and how its consequences can be addressed through collaboration among study investigators implementing observational research studies in CKD.

The iNET-CKD’s goals are to:

  • promote and enhance research opportunities using patient-level data and bio-samples to understand CKD progression and outcomes;
  • enhance research capacity around the world through education, especially as pertains to the conduct of observational cohort studies of CKD;
  • assist investigators establish CKD cohort studies.

The iNET-CKD is formed to exchange expertise, organize training, and facilitate collaborative research. The three principal activities are:

  • Exchange of expertise: Sharing research tools and technologies
  • Training: Training junior and senior researchers
  • Collaborative research: Multinational research collaborations

The Role

The role and responsibilities of iNET-CKD Committee members include to:

  • provide input on project development;
  • identify the priorities for the Network;
  • contribute to iNET-CKD projects identified by the group with its cohort study if/when possible;
  • contribute to the growth of the group, currently made up of 32 cohort studies, by identifying possible cohorts that contribute to the iNET-CKD Membership Eligibility criteria.

Selection Criteria

  • The applicant must be a coordinator (or investigator) of a cohort meeting the iNET-CKD Membership Eligibility criteria. Previous experience and knowledge of ISN iNET-CKD’s work will be an advantage.
  • Demonstrated interest in the research field, and in ISN activities.
  • ISN member in good standing.
  • Email accessible and able to regularly connect to conference calls.

Additional information

The position will start at WCN’24 for an initial term of approximately 2-years until WCN’26. The position may be renewed for up to two further terms, to a maximum of approximately 6-years (note: renewal is not automatic and based on group’s needs). Timeline – October: Application period open. November: Positions decided by ISN leadership. December: Applicants notified of outcome.
