ISN Interventional Nephrology Training

The ISN has selected 12 ISN Interventional Nephrology Training Centers to provide in-depth specialized training to improve patient care in different regions of the world.

Through this initiative, selected centers will help trainees to:

  • develop sound expertise in interventional nephrology
  • provide a better quality of care for dialysis patients in their home country
  • train others in their home institution

These centers were selected on their capacity to provide training in non-tunneled CVC placement, tunneled CVC placement, native kidney biopsy; transplant kidney biopsy, PD catheter insertion, and endovascular procedures, both for the Foundation and Advanced Courses:

ISN Interventional Nephrology Training Centers will host trainees for two types of curriculum:

  • Foundation course (2-4 weeks): specific interventional procedures; observational and hands-on training with patients.
  • Advanced course (3 months): a broad spectrum of procedures, especially endovascular procedures; hands-on training with patients.

The ISN will support trainees from low and middle-income countries with grants contributing to their travel, accommodation, and living costs during the training. Applicants should contact the ISN Interventional Nephrology Training Center of their choice, based on the procedures they would like to get trained on.

Before joining a training center, trainees must follow didactic sessions on the ISN Academy.

Applications for ISN Interventional Nephrology Scholarships are now open for scholars to undertake training at host centers from July 2021 to February 2022.
