China and US centers support each other to provide nephrology training
Earlier this January, several ISN Continuing Medical Education courses took place across China in Shanghai, Jiaxing and Hangzhou. These meetings were made possible thanks to a valuable partnership between the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, Ruijin Hospital Jiao Tong University, Chang Zheng Hospital, the Second Military Medical University and the First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University.
Lectures integrated basic science knowledge, key concepts and clinical approaches, from genetics, cell biology and renal physiology to diagnosis and treatment. Each lecture provided critical clinically applicable points with a summary and a post-lecture Q&A session.
The slides for each lecture were projected site-by-site in English and Chinese. There was also live English-Chinese translation for all sessions.
During the visit, the international faculty met with the hospital faculty representatives, leadership team and discussed current activities regarding medical practice, education and future direction. The international faculty provided insightful suggestions to the hospital faculty and leadership.
