ISN Emerging Leaders Cohorts Meet for the First Time at WCN’23 and Collaborate on Congress Sessions and Activities

During WCN’23 in Bangkok earlier this month, ISN Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) members participated in several engaging scientific sessions and activities, including some “Spotlight” sessions led and moderated by the cohorts themselves.
These sessions included the talks “How the ISN Emerging Leaders Program Transformed My Professional Journey,” “Challenges in Implementing Green and Sustainable Nephrology Practices in LMICs,” and “CKD and Primary Healthcare Workers: Strategies to Narrow Down Gaps and Increase Diagnosis.”
ELP members also moderated “Table Talks” on topics in global kidney care. It was the first time the two cohorts were able to meet and collaborate in person.
ELP members had their own event at WCN’23, “Leadership Immersion Experience for ELP Cohorts.” Both cohorts presented ongoing collaborative projects, achievements, lessons learned and future plans, reflecting on what collaborative leadership meant to them. They also heard from established leaders on the Global Kidney Health Atlas, novel research designs, implementation science, and leadership in policy development.
ELP members praised their experience on the program, saying it was “life-changing and eye-opening.” Members commented that their perspectives had broadened to take the global picture into account. They also emphasized the value of learning about teamwork, inclusivity, and diversity, and the satisfaction of working toward global goals.
