Dr. Rolando Claure Del Granado and colleagues involved in the ISN 0by25 initiative in Bolivia
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Every year, the Scientific Committee of the Medical College of Bolivia awards outstanding studies and investigators that significantly impact the local population.
This year, the jury recognized the academic and research activities of Dr. Rolando Claure Del Granado and selected the study “Recognition and management of community-acquired acute kidney injury in low-resource settings: the ISN 0by25 feasibility trial.”
Hospital Obrero No. 2 – CNS of Cochabamba, Bolivia, was one of three centers that participated in the study under the supervision of the local PI, Dr. Rolando Claure Del Granado, past Chair and current member of the ISN Young Nephrologists Committee and member of the Steering Committee of the ISN Emerging Leaders Program.
The 0by25 initiative was launched in 2013 to eliminate preventable deaths from AKI worldwide by 2025. It advocates for global strategies to diagnose and treat AKI in patients with potentially reversible diseases, especially in disadvantaged populations.
Evidence from the 0by25 study in Bolivia has raised awareness of the issues prompting the Bolivian Health Care Authorities and the National Kidney Health Program to implement an early acute kidney injury recognition and response program in the country to improve patient care and outcomes.
The scientific committee presented the award personally to Dr. Rolando Claure Del Granado for his involvement in the initiative.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
