The ISN Academy Announces the Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) Case-SeriesISN admin
Using patient-centered approaches, the ISN Academy brings you a new case-series in collaboration with The Society of Point of Care Ultrasound (SPOCUS) to provide education on Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS). This new topic follows the successful structure of the Renpath cases: in short videos, experts will highlight important aspects of POCUS, including:
- Safe and cost-effective, POCUS is now used routinely in clinical settings to provide versatile images of organs and vascular structures.
- Point-of-care renal ultrasonography can quickly provide answers to simple clinical questions; yet, many nephrology practitioners lack sufficient skills to perform this procedure.
- A well-trained POCUS operator can have a real impact on effective decision-making
to improve patient care.
The first case in the series, To Dialyze or not to Dialyze, is presented by Andrew A. Moses, Nephrology Fellow, PGY-5, Columbia University Irving Medical Center, and focuses on fluid status in the obese patient, and the importance of understanding fluid status when making critical decisions.
